The best beaches on Nantucket for every type of visitor
April 13, 2026 · ACK Deals
Nantucket has over 80 miles of coastline and dozens of beaches — but not all are equal. Here's how to choose the right one. Jetties Beach is the most popular and family-friendly beach on the island. It's a short bike ride from downtown, has calm waters, a snack bar, restrooms, and beach rentals. Perfect for families with young kids. Surfside Beach is on the south shore and faces the open Atlantic. Bigger waves, wider sand, and a younger crowd. Great for boogie boarding and sunbathing. Madaket Beach is on the west end of the island and has the best sunsets on Nantucket. It's a longer bike ride but absolutely worth it. The surf can be strong so swim carefully. Sconset Beach is tucked away on the east end near the charming village of Siasconset. Quiet, peaceful, and far fewer tourists. Great for a relaxing day away from the crowds. Dionis Beach is a hidden gem on the north shore. Protected cove, calm water, great for snorkeling and paddleboarding. Locals love it.
