There are two ways to get to Nantucket — by ferry or by plane. Here's everything you need to know. By Ferry — Steamship Authority: The most popular option. Ferries run from Hyannis, MA. The traditional ferry takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes. The fast ferry takes about 1 hour. Book car reservations well in advance for summer. By Ferry — Hy-Line Cruises: Hy-Line runs a fast ferry from Hyannis (1 hour, passengers only). A good alternative if Steamship is sold out. By Plane: Nantucket Memorial Airport (ACK) has direct flights from Boston, New York, and other East Coast cities. Flying is faster but more expensive. Our recommendation: For most visitors, the Steamship Authority fast ferry from Hyannis is the sweet spot — affordable, scenic, and no airport hassle.
