Sesachacha's Open, Billie's Is Coming, and Your Wallet Should Prepare

Another week on this $50-sandwich island, and the news keeps rolling in like the tide at Jetties Beach.

First up: Sesachacha Pond just got its bi-annual flush to the Atlantic. For those keeping track at home, that's the town literally opening the pond twice a year to keep the water from turning into a nitrogen soup. Peak Nantucket energy — even our ponds need $100,000 maintenance schedules.

Speaking of expensive maintenance, Billie's On Broad is taking over the old Dune spot. A Florida restaurateur is bringing steakhouse vibes to Broad Street, which means we're about to find out what a $75 ribeye tastes like with a side of island premium. The ghost of Dune's $18 fish tacos is probably laughing somewhere.

Meanwhile, Commonwealth and Oran Mor teamed up for "Mor Wine" — because apparently we needed another place to spend $40 on a bottle that costs $12 at Stop & Shop in Hyannis. Their grand opening is Friday with free champagne from 4-7pm, so at least someone's buying the first round.

And shoutout to NHS seniors Danielle Lewis and Myah Johnson for scoring full college scholarships as Nantucket Scholars. Smart move getting that education funding locked down before attempting to afford rent anywhere post-graduation.

Whether you're celebrating scholarship wins or drowning your sorrows in overpriced wine, our local ACK Deals vendors have what you need to navigate another expensive but oddly irresistible summer on this sandbar we call home.
