Spring on Island: From Daffodils to Dark Skies
April 15, 2026 · ACK Deals
The daffodils are about to steal the show, but there's plenty happening on island before the 50th Daffodil Festival takes over in a couple weeks. This weekend's weather might keep us indoors with those south winds gusting up to 35 mph, but honestly, it's perfect timing for some of the indoor events happening right now.
If you missed Tuesday's stargazing at Bennett Hall, you're kicking yourself, clear views of Jupiter and some incredible nebulae through those telescopes. The timing couldn't be better with our newly proclaimed International Dark Sky Week coming up. Living out here, we sometimes forget how lucky we are to have actual darkness when the sun goes down.
Speaking of things we're lucky to have, Edwin Claflin is opening Mór Wine on Federal Street. If you know his work at Oran Mor, you know this bottle shop is going to be something special. Meanwhile, Nina Liddle's taking over The Lovely's old spot on Washington Street with her new boutique Birdie, another reason to walk downtown instead of just driving straight to the grocery store.
With ferry service running smoothly and more places opening their doors each week, spring feels like it's finally here for real. The shoulder season energy is different from summer chaos, and there's something perfect about having the island mostly to ourselves before the crowds arrive.
Whether you're looking for that perfect bottle of wine for a rainy evening or planning ahead for Daffodil weekend, check out what our local businesses are offering this season.
